Vision Robotic Arm Gesture Recognition
7/24/2022
Proof of concept for controlling simulated robots with webcam-based gestures.
It maps hand aperture and body-pose angles to robot joints using OpenCV, Mediapipe, ROS, and Gazebo. The repository describes a ROS workspace for real-time robot control from human movement, connecting perception modules with simulated robotic actuation.
The work was developed for the Smart Robotics course at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. It is included here as an example of applied computer vision outside medical imaging, combining pose estimation, signal mapping, robotics middleware, and simulation.
